Essential Information for Opening and Using Excel Effectively
Option A: One-time Enable (when opening a file)
- Open the
.xlsm
or.xlsb
file. - Look for a yellow warning bar at the top that says:
"Security Warning – Macros have been disabled."
- Click "Enable Content".
Option B: Always Allow Macros from Trusted Locations
To avoid being prompted every time:
- Open Excel.
- Go to File > Options > Trust Center > Trust Center Settings.
- Select Trusted Locations.
- Click Add new location… and add the folder where you keep your macro files.
- Alternatively, under Macro Settings, you can choose:
- "Disable all macros with notification" (recommended)
- "Enable all macros" (not recommended for security reasons)
